Any vehicle imported under the Race and Rally Scheme cannot be
licenced for regular street use and as such there are no compliance
requirements.
REMEMBER:
- Vehicles imported under this scheme cannot be licenced
for regular road use at a latter date even if they become eligible
under another
import scheme.
- The owner must supply a CAMS licence or similar
to prove the intent to race the vehicle in order to acquire
the import approval.
In some states a race vehicle can attain a ‘B
Class conditional Registration’ for restricted road use.
This allows it to be driven to and from race events and for mechanical
repairs.
When applying for restricted race registration the owner
must
provide a scrutineering form from a racing club to prove
race use. The
vehicle must also satisfy basic safety check. These requirements
may vary in
each state so you should check prior to importing.
If required, IMPORTS101 can help with these enquiries.
Some examples
of the items checked:
- Lighting and indicators
- Tyres
- Oil leaks
- Door operation
- Wipers
- Horn
- All typical safety issues
