This is a relatively new import scheme, developed by the government
to offer a stable structure for the import industry. SEVS allows
many various models to be imported however extremely strict guidelines
are imposed regarding the compliance of these vehicles.
Ruling: A vehicle is eligible under the SEVS if it has never
been sold in Australia in full volume and complies with 2 of
the 4 following criteria.
- Appearance: The vehicle must be different and unique in
its appearance.
- Unusual Design Features: The vehicle must have an unusual
design feature.
- Performance: The vehicle must meet a minimum power to weight
ratio.
- Specialist Publications: The vehicle is advertised regularly
in a specialist publication.

Compliance
All SEVS vehicles must be complied by a “Registered
Automotive Workshop”. A RAW has a government licence
to comply certain vehicles. When considering importing
a SEVS vehicle IMPORTS101 will organize compliance through
